No Theme Nursery

Updated: Dec 8, 2021

Baby #2 is about ten weeks away, so I wanted to document baby Colt's nursery since I never had a chance to share it all in one place.

I was very adamant about not having a theme for his nursery - that's great if you love a theme (I do too) - but I really wanted a space that would grow with him and would not need updates to characters and things like that.

We went with a gray and blue tone color pallet with touches of natural wood stain accents.

We were gifted this gorgeous Pottery Barn Minna Rocker and Ottoman, which fit perfectly in this little nook. We added two floating rustic shelves from an Etsy seller, that added a new design depth to the clean look we were going for.

I styled the shelves with a few pieces that are representative of our favorite things - like Texas, Harry Potter, and family.

The shelves also looked really good next to our Smallwoods hanging canvases. I love ordering from Smallwoods - these black and white prints of us holding baby Colt are my favorite.

We continued the natural wood stain accents on the opposite wall with a feature name piece from Ebenezer Market - which is small business local to us in Virginia - and we could not have been happier with it. The piece is so sturdy and well crafted.

These 12Timbers marquee sticks were perfect for above the crib because I really wanted to feel safe about what was above baby's head - just in case! And you can always switch up what the sign says anytime you want.

We did add some color through the most fun Texas ABC print from Be Sweet Ink to bring in more Texas charm. I also love having these sweet cuddle and kind knit dolls and all the classic board books for Colt to play with and enjoy.

Colt loves his wooden puzzles from Busy Puzzle - we received his first name puzzle before he was born and then was gifted the alphabet and clock puzzle this year - big hits! We also love our wooden cars from the Heath and Hand collection at Target.

Colt's room has two large windows, which made a perfect space for this Studio McGee collection at Target mirror - tying in the black hardware to match the floating shelves. One of my favorite pieces in his room is this blanket ladder from Kirkland's. We keep our Copper Peal blankets that are dedicated to his room here.

And finally, we have the classic Anywhere Chair from Pottery Barn - which now at 18 months is one of Colt's favorite places to relax.

Thanks for reading along about our no theme nursery for baby Colt - can't wait to see what we do in the future with two littles in the room!

xx
